Herriman Fire

Is has been a couple of days since the fire in Herriman started and things are finally getting back to normal.  I can still smell a strong scent of the fire as I step out into my front yard.   Many people are still out of their homes due to a mandatory evacuation.  My family and I are very lucky that we were able to stay in our house.  A lot of our neighbors decided to pack up a few important items and leave.  Although we stayed, I did pack up pictures and a change of clothes and put them in the car just in case we had to go quickly.  It is amazing how little direction you have when you are faced to pack up the most imprtant family items you have and make sure it all fits in your car.  With 2 pets and a family of 5, there wasn't much room.
I could hear the disturbing sounds of cop sirens in the distant (a few steets up) telling people to leave their homes.  With the few neighbors who stayed...we sat outside half the night not able to sleep and watched the fire burn.  It came very close to one of the houses on the mountain.  Thanks to the fire fighters who were able to save many homes including this one.  Take at a look at my pictures to see the house we watched being saved.  AMAZING!
All Herriman schools were closed yesterday (Monday).  My kids have always wondered if they would have  a day when school closed due to large snow fall "Snow Day" but I would of never imagined they would get a "Fire Day".
I am very thankful my family was safe and not directly affected and my heart goes out to everyone who WAS affected by the fire.
